Individual Therapy:
I work with individual adults and adolescents who are ready to make positive changes in their lives. Whether you are facing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem,  perinatal/postpartum mood issues, or stress related to an overwhelming or traumatic experience, you may benefit from a supportive space and someone to help you process what you are going through, while working to develop tools to better cope with various challenges.  The frequency and duration of therapy varies by each individual's unique needs and preferences.

Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR):
EMDR is a modern, evidence-based therapy technique used in the treatment of a wide range of problems stemming from struggles with self-esteem, past traumatic events, or present difficulties with mood, motivation, or relationships. It has been clinically proven to accelerate the treatment of a variety of problems by tapping into a client's memory system to strengthen positive memory networks while weakening negative or traumatic ones. When something traumatic or disturbing happens, the memory can become improperly stored in the mind and nervous systems. Certain memories become wired together and can be triggered by present day situations and events, potentially causing negative emotions and dysfunction. EMDR can help to unlock improperly stored memories and reprocess them in order to improve functioning. EMDR can be especially useful and work quickly to improve fears and emotional disturbances in children.

Groups and Workshops:
I offer groups and workshops on varoius topics, including Building Self-Esteem and Mindfulness/Stress reduction.  Please contact me for information regarding upcoming events.

Career Counseling:
Career counseling is generally a time-limited process (typically 2-3 sessions) and involves helping clients to explore their skills, interests, and values in order to determine career paths and jobs best suited to their individual personalities and needs.  Assessments used include the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (Career Report Form) and Strong Interest Inventory.  Both assessments produce detailed reports, including suggestions on potential careers.  Additional referrals for resume writing/review and job search are provided as necessary.

I am registered as an approved supervisor by the Virginia Board of Counseling and provide supervision to post-graduate counseling Residents working toward licensure in the state of Virginia. I am also available to provide consultation to students and therapists looking for information regarding working in or starting up a private practice.
